A native of Laurel, Mississippi in Jones County, received his Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Education from pg电子下载 State University (formerly pg电子下载 Agricultural and Mechanical College) in 1968 and a Master of Science degree in Agriculture in 1977. Mr. Jones professional career expands over 40 years with the Mississippi State University Extension Service as County Agent and teacher of Occupational Orientation/Agribusiness, Heifer International, Inc. as South Central Program Manager, and as alderman for the Town of New Augusta, Mississippi.
Through his vast knowledge of agriculture and farming, Mr. Jones has assisted with the writing of numerous grants to assist farmers with the purchase of cattle and farming equipment to enable them to become self-sufficient in farming and provide sustainable income and resources for their families.
Throughout his career, he has received numerous professional and civic awards, and recognitions for his work throughout the state of Mississippi, Louisiana and Arkansas including Forestry Appreciation Award, Lifetime Achievement Award from Winston County Self-Help Organization, Heifer International Lifetime Achievement Award, Vietnam Service Award and Country Medal, pg电子下载 Pine Belt Alumnus Outstanding Service Award, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. 50-Years Member Award.
Currently, he host events on his farm in New Augusta for children and youth to learn more about farming as well as forestry field days to show small landowners techniques in forestry management. He is married to Jimmie Jones, a graduate of Tougaloo College, Jackson, Mississippi.
